Jersey's first release of 2026 shows local landmarks photographed from the air. The images were captured by local photographers Marc Le Cornu and James Bedding.

There are eight stamps in the set and the photographs show Les Landes MP-3, Archirondel Tower, Fort Regent, Elizabeth Castle, Mont Orgueil Castle, La Rocque harbour, Le Don Hilton and Fort Leicester.

This is the latest issue in what seems to be a growing series, following Jersey from the Air (2019) and Jersey from the Air II (2023).

Design Quality - The design of these stamps is simple, with each one dominated by a strong aerial photograph. There is very little graphic decoration, which helpfully keeps the focus on the image itself. This works well because the photographs are sharp, colourful and immediately eye-catching. However, the simplicity can also feel a bit repetitive, as all the stamps follow the same basic layout. Overall, the design is effective rather than exciting, relying on photography rather than creativity in layout. 6/10

Theme and Subject Choice - The theme is very Jersey-focused, showing well-known landmarks and landscapes from above. This continues the ongoing “Jersey from the Air” series, which makes the issue feel familiar rather than surprising. Does this make the set less adventurous, as it does not explore a new idea? On the other hand, the aerial viewpoint gives even familiar places a fresh perspective, which can make the locations more interesting. 8/10

Historical and Cultural Relevance - The stamps highlight places that are important to Jersey’s identity, including historic buildings, coastal defences and natural landscapes. While the stamps do not explain the history in detail, they still reflect Jersey’s heritage and its strong connection to the sea and World War II. The landmarks shown are from a mix of different eras. 9/10

Innovation and Creativity - The photography is high quality, with dramatic lighting and unusual angles. However, as this is another instalment in the “Jersey from the Air” series, it does not feel especially innovative. The idea has been done before, and the stamps do not experiment much with design, illustration or storytelling. The creativity lies more in the skill of the photographers than in the overall concept. I like the use of different angles and that the photographs are very different from each other. 7/10

Collectability - This set is likely to be appealing to collectors who enjoy landscape and aerial photography or who are interested in Jersey's history and geography. Being part of a continuing series may increase its collectability. 5/10

Personal appeal - Speaking for myself, I really like these. I am not only a stamp collector but a photographer (I have twice won local awards for my photography) and I appreciate the excellent photography here. They are not only stunning images but they say a lot about Jersey's identity and history. I definitely would like to add these to my collection. 10/10

Overall score - 45/60
