The Isle of Man's latest issue celebrates John McGuinness, a famous motorcyclist. I know nothing about any kind of motor racing and I had never heard of John McGuinness, but Isle of Man Stamps & Coins fortunately tells us a bit about him: "This 2026 stamp issue from Isle of Man Post Office celebrates 30 years since John McGuinness MBE first competed at the Isle of Man TT in 1996, marking one of the most successful and enduring careers in the history of the Mountain Course.

"The six stamps are led by McGuinness’s association with the TT, depicting him in action on the Mountain Course. They also recognise his wider achievements in international road racing, featuring imagery from the North West 200 and the Macau Grand Prix, both important parts of his competitive legacy.

"At the Isle of Man TT, McGuinness has achieved 23 victories, 47 podiums and a landmark 130mph lap during the 2007 Centenary Senior TT. These accomplishments define his status as one of the greatest competitors in the event’s history. His success at the North West 200, where he has recorded six wins on the high-speed Triangle Circuit, and his 2001 victory at the Macau Grand Prix further underline his versatility across the sport’s most demanding venues.

"Still competing at the TT in 2026 with Honda Racing UK, McGuinness remains a central figure in modern road racing. This stamp issue presents a tribute to his enduring connection with the TT, while acknowledging a wider career across iconic international events." As I said I don't know much about motor sport and it doesn't really interest me. I have heard of the TT Races and I understand they are a huge thing on the Isle of Man. It's a massive part of the island's identity and the biggest event of the year there. There have been a lot of Isle of Man stamps about the TT races and some of the stars of the races, so it's not surprising we have another and John McGuinness is obviously a big name.

Design Quality - These stamps look really cool and modern compared to normal stamps. I am very impressed with the photography, which uses creative angles to make the bikes look really fast and exciting. The composition and colours make the stamps look sporty and energetic. The layout is quite edgy and dynamic, which makes them stand out a lot from usual Isle of Man stamps. 9/10

Theme / Subject Choice - The TT Races are a huge part of the Isle of Man, so it makes sense to celebrate them. It’s also an important anniversary because it marks 30 years since John McGuinness first raced in the TT. But the Isle of Man has already made loads of TT stamps before, so these don’t feel super unique or surprising. They’re good, just maybe not very original as a topic. 7/10

Historical and Cultural Relevance - The TT Races are really important to the Isle of Man and are famous around the world, so the subject definitely connects to the island’s culture. John McGuinness is also a legendary racer with loads of success. The only thing is he isn’t actually from the Isle of Man, so it doesn’t feel quite as relevant to the island itself. 8/10

Innovation and Creativity - The photography and design style are very creative and contemporary. The stamps feel more like modern sports graphics than traditional postage stamps, which I like. I really admire the action shots and the bold colours. The overall design is creative without being too over-the-top. 8/10

Collectability - Motorsport fans and TT collectors would probably really like these stamps because the bikes and racing photos are impressive. But anyone else might not care that much especially as there have been so many TT-themed stamps. 6/10 Personal Appeal - They’re definitely good-looking stamps and I can see why people would admire them, but they don’t really make me excited. Still, the sporty style is cool and the tribute to John McGuinness is a good one. 6/10 Overall Score: 44/60
