New Issue: Cute Cats (Azerbaijan)

Here are some fun stamps from Azerbaijan.

The set is called "cute cats" and they may be cute but each cat has its own personality. My favourite is the blue cat peeking out of the postbox. It looks like it’s stolen someone’s letter! The white cat looks really peaceful, and the ginger one with its ball of wool looks like it owns the place and would definitely steal your favourite seat as soon as you got up! The bright colours make the stamps stand out. I don't really understand the background, which seems to have nothing to do with the cats at all.

Design Quality: The stamps themselves have a cartoon-style design and they're very colourful. Unfortunately, the background doesn't make any sense and doesn't connect to the stamps at all. The designs of the three stamps work well together with the cats doing different things. The first and third cat seem to have a lot of character. The designer has added a domed building in the second stamp and a carpet in the third stamp which look very Azerbaijani. 7/10 Theme and Subject Choice: Cats are a very common theme but these aren't like normal cat stamps. They're cartoon stamps and designed to be cute but also fun. It's not a serious issue about cats, and maybe we need to have more stamps that are supposed to be fun. 8/10 Historical and Cultural Relevance: There are cats in Azerbaijan just like in other countries. I am sure people in Azerbaijan enjoy fun cartoons too. There is the rooftop and the carpet that show a local connection, but overall there is nothing exceptional about these and there isn't any special relevance. 5/10 Innovation and Creativity: These seem quite creative to me (not the background!) with the colours that are used, and the artistic style helps show how silly cats can be! 7/10 Collectability: Some collectors will like cats on stamps and others will like cartoon stamps or stamps that are fun instead of serious. They stand out from most other stamps. 6/10

Personal Appeal: I like these cat stamps because they are cute, silly, fun and a bit stupid, but that's what makes me love them. These stamps are nice, showing the playful side of cats and not just them being serious and boring! 8/10 Overall Score: 41/60
