A new French stamp came out last week but it is a very unusual one.
Xanthe wasn't interested in reviewing it but I definitely am!
The stamp shows a picture of a butter croissant ("Croissant au beurre"). Do you like croissants? I do, and I like stamps with pictures of croissants on them although I haven't seen one before.
I like the details in the picture. But even better, this stamp actually smells like a croissant! If you rub it then it will smell like a Paris bakery! Lovely!
This is caused by tiny microcapsules infused in the ink. Wow!
Imagine if you had more stamps like this. What about a fruit version where stamps smelled of strawberries, blueberries or raspberries? Wouldn't it be great? Although if it was a British stamp it would probably smell of fish and chips. Xanthe has asked me to score this stamp using her normal scoring system so I will do my best. Design Quality - I think it is quite a good design. 7/10
Theme and Subject Choice - Croissants are really famous in France and a great theme for a French stamp. 7/10
Historical and Cultural Relevance - Well, it is a French stamp so I think it is very relevant. 9/10
Innovation and Creativity - It's a stamp that smells like what it is supposed to be! What more can I say? 9/10
Collectability - I think people will want to collect it because it is different. 8/10
Personal appeal - I love it! 10/10
Overall score - 50/60
Heidi is Xanthe's 10 year old sister, who also collects stamps.
