The Isle of Man's latest issue is another one dedicated to motor sport.

I have no interest in motor sport at all, although I understand it is important to the Isle of Man.

The Isle of Man Stamps and Coins website tells us more about these stamps: "From the McLaren 675LT and Lamborghini Huracán STO to the Ferrari 488 Pista Spider and McLaren 720S, each stamp reflects a distinct expression of modern performance. The Nissan GT-R R35 represents tuning culture at its most extreme, while the DTM Mercedes-Benz 190E Evolution Replica and Lamborghini Gallardo Balboni Edition highlight both heritage and individuality.

"The Balboni Edition honours Lamborghini test driver Valentino Balboni, who visited the Isle of Man during Petrolheadonism’s 2025 Supercar Island tour. His involvement adds a genuine personal link between the Island, the event and the wider automotive community.

"The collection brings together design, engineering and storytelling, offering a closer look at the machines and the people behind them. It captures the energy of Supercar Island through both visual impact and narrative detail, making it an engaging addition for enthusiasts of performance motoring."

The stamps really show the power of these cars. They also show some of the island's landscape in the background, which I like. This is not a new theme for the Isle of Man, and here are some similar stamps from the past.

However, while there have been many Isle of Man stamps about cars and especially supercars, Petrolheadonism - Supercar Island 2026 is a specific event that is happening in the Isle of Man right now!

Design Quality - The photography is definitely the best thing about this stamp set. Every car looks fast and exciting. I also like that they didn't just put the cars on plain backgrounds. You can see different parts of the Isle of Man, which helps remind you that this isn't just a collection of supercars – it's about an event on the island.

The overall design is clean and modern. The coloured stripes along the bottom make the stamps feel sporty without getting in the way of the pictures. Everything is easy to look at.

The only downside is that the design depends almost completely on the photographs. If the photos weren't so good, there wouldn't be much else to make the stamps interesting. There's very little illustration or creative design work beyond arranging the images nicely. 7/10

Theme/Subject Choice - The Isle of Man loves putting motorbikes and cars on stamps. There's nothing wrong with that because motorsport is a big part of the island, but after a while it starts to feel a bit repetitive. Another set of expensive sports cars just isn't that exciting.

I do think it's better that these stamps celebrate a real event rather than simply showing random supercars. That gives them a sense of purpose.

The official description also talks about Valentino Balboni creating a "genuine personal link" with the Isle of Man because he visited during last year's event. I'm not really convinced by that. Lots of famous people visit the Isle of Man for different events, so it feels like quite a weak connection. By that logic, they could probably make stamps celebrating my nanna and grandad because they used to go on holiday there every year! 6/10

Historical and Cultural Relevance - There's definitely some relevance here. Motorsport is one of the Isle of Man's biggest attractions, and Petrolheadonism has become an important event for car fans. However, as there have been so many Isle of Man motorsport stamp sets, this one doesn't stand out very much. 8/10

Innovation and Creativity - The photographs are excellent but, apart from that, this feels like exactly what I'd expect from the Isle of Man. There's nothing especially surprising or original about the layout or presentation. It's a nice-looking collection, but not one that pushes the boundaries of stamp design. It relies on great cars and great photography rather than creative artwork ideas. 5/10

Collectability - If you love supercars, this is probably a really appealing set. The connection to the event gives the stamps a bit more meaning than simply showing fast cars.

If you're not interested in supercars, it's much harder to get excited about them. To many collectors, they'll probably feel like just another Isle of Man motorsport issue. 7/10

Personal Appeal - I don't know very much about supercars or motorsport, so these stamps don't really speak to me.

That doesn't mean I think they're bad. The photography is excellent, and I can see why car fans would enjoy them. if I'm honest, I quite like them. They're just not a subject I'm especially interested in, and because the Isle of Man releases so many similar themes, this set doesn't feel particularly fresh or memorable. 6/10 Overall score: 39/60
